ANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL AND FINANCIAL PRAYERS EFFECTS ON REGENCY AND SUBSTITUTE FOR PILGRIMAGE
Abstract
The majority of Islamic scholars have divided the prayers into three parts; physical, financial and formed of physical and financial in terms of validity of substitute for pilgrimage. Among these, in financial prayers, they claim that in pilgrimage, there are both financial and physical aspects of prayers. They also accept that substititute for pilgrimage is valid. However, when it is considered that primary components of the pilgrimage and the expenditures of this prayer is (arızi) accidental, it is understood that it is a physical prayer. Therefore, division of the prayers as physical and financial is necessary.
In addition the responsibilities are individual in İslam, intention and sincerity which are the conditions of the validity of a prayer relate to the inner world of the obligator. And this leads prayer must be carried out by the obligator in person. However in some Hadiths, there are some expressions about prayers can be carried out by someone else doing this for another person. Yet, this Hadiths express approval of carrying out the prayers on behalf of a neighbour by prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). Therefore, this Hadiths should be evaluated as praying for someone else and donation of the good Works of the prayers, not as a part of substitute. In conclusion, if one person pray for someone else or his neighbour, he himself gets the award for this pray. However, if the obligator doesn’t carry out the prayer whether it is financial or physical, this cannot be carried out by someone else.
